A Bridgend stepfather named John Cole is accused of killing his own stepson. Five-year-old stepson of his was discovered dead in a river.
Logan was treated ungenerously and cruelly by John Cole virtually constantly. When the family would have “takeaway nights” and eat Chinese food or KFC, Cole would purposely leave Logan out and tease him about the foods he was missing.
Logan’s contact with the outside world was cut off by Cole, who also forbade him from seeing his biological father.
He denied hitting Logan, but revealed after the trial that he had slapped his hands, grabbed him by the hair, and made him stand in a “naughty corner” for extended periods of time—even realizing doing so would make Logan want to harm himself.

When he arrived at Bridgend’s Princess of Wales Hospital, he was pronounced dead.
