Legendary Opera Singer Amanda Aldridge Family Today, Did She Have Children?

Amanda Aldridge was an opera singer and teacher who was black and British. She wrote love songs, suites, sambas, and light symphonic pieces under the name Montague Ring.

She first showed up on British TV on the show Music for You when she was 88 years old. At the time, American singer Muriel Smith sang her song “Little Southern Love Song.”

During her 60-year career, Aldridge put out about 30 songs and dozens of instrumental tracks. She made romantic parlor music, which was popular with the middle class at the time. She did this by combining different rhythmic styles and genres with poetry by black American writers.

She had written a lot of songs that were big hits, like ALIAssyrian, Love’s Golden Day, Blue Days of June, and many others. She had also put on several shows and concerts that raised a lot of money for the poor through donations and charity.

Amanda Aldridge was born on March 10, 1866, in Upper Norwood, London. She was the third child of African-American actor Ira Frederick Aldridge and his Swedish second wife, Amanda Brandt.

Rachael and Luranah are her sisters, and Ira Frederick and Daniel Ira are her brothers.

Aldridge went to London to study voice with Jenny Lind and George Henschel and harmony and counterpoint with Frederick Bridge and Francis Edward Gladstone at the well-known Royal College of Music.

Aldridge worked as a concert singer, a piano player, and a voice teacher after she finished school.

Due to a problem with her throat, she could no longer perform, so she switched to teaching. Between 1907 and 1925, she wrote and published about thirty songs in the romantic parlor style as well as instrumental music in other styles.
