Matti Timonen (born October 10, 1953) is a former Finnish professional tennis player who played for the Finnish national team.
With 24 national wins to his name, Timonen includes three outdoor and five indoor singles titles among his accomplishments.
On the professional tour, he was rated as high as 257 in the world and reached the second round of the 1975 New Zealand Open, where he was defeated in five sets by the fourth-seeded Syd Ball. He retired from the game after the 1975 season.
From 1972 to 1982, he was a member of the Finland Davis Cup squad, appearing in a total of 35 rubbers. In 1980, he defeated France’s Pascal Portes in a singles rubber match.
