Hindi film actor, producer, and politician Dharam Singh Deol (born 8 December 1935), also known by his stage name Dharmendra, is from India. In a career spanning more than six decades, Dharmendra, who is referred to be the first “He-Man” of Bollywood, has appeared in over 301 films. He is one of the most popular actors in Hindi film history. [3][4][5] For his contributions to Hindi cinema, he was given the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 1997. He was a Bharatiya Janata Party representative for Rajasthan’s Bikaner seat in India’s 15th Lok Sabha (BJP). He received the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor, from the Indian government in 2012.

Dharm Singh Deol
Dharmendra was born Dharam Singh Deol in Nasrali, a village at Ludhiana district, Punjab on 8 December 1935 to Kewal Kishan Singh Deol and Satwant Kaur in a Punjabi Jat family. His ancestral village is called (today)Dangon, close Pakhowal Tehsil Raikot, Ludhiana.
He made his acting debut in 1960 with Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere. He appeared in several blockbuster films such as Phool Aur Patthar co-starring Meena Kumari, Shashikala and O. P. Ralhan, Sholay co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini and Jaya Bhaduri.
He subsequently produced films like Ghayal, Barsaat etc. He entered politics in 2004 and was elected as Member of the Parliament from Bikaner in Rajasthan representing BJP. Considering his contribution to films he is honored with Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
He married Prakash Kaur when he was only 19 years of age. The couple gave birth to two sons; Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol and two daughters;Vijayta Deol and Ajeeta Deol.
During the filming of Sholay he fell in love with actress Hema Malini and married her in 1980. He converted to Islam in 1979 to legalize her second marriage. The couple gave birth to two daughters named Esha Deol who’s married to Bharat Takhtani and Ahana Deol who’s married to Vaibhav Vohra, both dancers.

Abhay Singh Deol (born 15 March 1976), known as Abhay Deol is an Indian actor and producer who works mostly in Hindi language films. Deol was born in a Jat family to Ajit Singh Deol and Usha Deol. Being a part of the powerful Deol family of Hindi cinema, he began acting at a young age at cinema productions in his faculty. Deol made his on-screen debut in 2005 using Imtiaz Ali’s romantic humor Socha Na Tha.
After the modest success from his debut, Deol was commended for his performances in movies such as Manorama Six Feet Under (2007) that won him the Best Actor Award at the Indo-American Arts Council Film Festival and also the successful Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008). His breakthrough role came from 2009 with all the starring characters as Dev in Anurag Kashyap’s Dev.D, a Modern Day adaptation of Bengali classic novel Devdas. Ajay Singh Deol popularly known as Sunny Deol was born to actor Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur. Sunny began acting with his super hit film Betaab (1983) that has been a love story featuring another newcomer Amrita Singh; this picture was a big victory and then he went on making films which portrayed him as Bollywood’s most successful action hero.
He’s famously known for his roles in films like Tridev, Arjun, Ghayal, Vishwatma, Lootere, Damini and Border and many more.
