Silawan was a high school student and a Church collector at the same time. She was born in the Philippines, in the city of Cebu.

Her unidentified boyfriend met her using a false Facebook account before killing her. Initially, the suspect pretended to be someone else.

Silawan may be seen walking with a male figure in the CCTV footage. As a result, the police assume that at least three people were involved in her assassination.
