Konidela Siva Sankara Vara Prasad, prominently referred to by his sobriquet Chiranjeevi, is a distinguished Indian thespian and politician. Chiranjeevi embarked on his vocation as a performer before establishing the Chiranjeevi Charitable Foundation in 1998, which is integrally associated with diplomatic forays. In 2008, he took the plunge into the political arena, spearheading his own political outfit, the Praja Rajyam Party.

Vara Prasad, the son of Late Sri Venkat Rao and Srimathi Anjana Devi, was born on 22 August 1955 in Mogallturu, a town nestled on the banks of the River Godavari in the West Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, India. His father served as a constable and was frequently transferred, causing Vara Prasad to spend his childhood in his native village with his grandparents.

Growing up, Vara Prasad had two sisters and two brothers, one of whom, Nagendra Babu, is a film producer and a star. However, Vara Prasad faced academic struggles, failing to achieve success in his education despite attending schools in Nidadavolu, Gurajala, Bapatla, Ponnuru, Mangalagiri, and Mogalturu. He eventually completed his secondary education at C.S.R.Sharma Junior College in Ongole and went on to earn a B.Com degree from Y.N. College in Narasapur. Notably, he also served as an NCC cadet, participating in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi during the early 1970s.
In 1977, after completing his studies at Y.N. College, Vara Prasad moved to Chennai to pursue a career in acting. There, he met and eventually married Surekha, the daughter of a distinguished figure from the yesteryear. The couple has three children: their eldest daughter, Susmitha, their son, Ram Charan Teja, and their youngest daughter, Sreeja.

Konidala Chiranjeevi’s venture into politics was a topic of great discussion in political and media circles since 2007. Reports had surfaced that he was seeking the opinions of the people in the latter half of the same year. Speculation was rife that he would announce his decision in January 2008.
Prior to the launch of his party, many prominent political leaders from Andhra Pradesh, such as Harirama Jogaiah from the Congress Party, K. Vidyadhar Rao, B. Nagi Reddy, Tammineni Seetharam, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, and many others from the Telugu Desam Party, openly declared their support for Chiranjeevi’s party. On August 17, 2008, Chiranjeevi held a press conference in his party office to announce his entry into politics.
In a public meeting held at Avilala near Tirupati on August 26, 2008, he officially announced the party’s name as Praja Rajyam, signifying that the rule belongs to the people. He also unveiled the party flag during this meeting.

Kavikondala Venkata Rao, a writer of the Telugu language, hailing from the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, was a man of letters of prodigious output. The locale of his birth was Srirangapatna, situated in the district of East Godavari. He commenced his writing journey in 1910, and over the next half-century, he authored over 200 short stories, two novels (Vijanasadnamu and Inupa Kota), a copious collection of poems, songs, and lyrical ballads.
Acknowledged as a poet of nature, Rao earned the moniker “Andhra Wordsworth,” bestowed upon him by his friend and patron, the poet-painter Oswald Cadre, who was the Chief of Government Arts College in Rajahmundry. Rao shared his camaraderie with Damerla Rama Rao and Tribal Bapiraju, in addition to Cadre. At the age of sixteen, he commenced writing poetry in English, which was encouraged by Mr. Cannare. However, he was persuaded to write songs in Telugu, which he excelled at. He passed away in Guntur.

Political Career of Pawan Kalyan
On March 14, 2014, Pawan Kalyan founded the Jana Sena Party, which is based on the ideology of his book titled “Ism”. He met with then BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to discuss issues related to both Telugu states and lent his support. He campaigned extensively for the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He coined the slogan “Congress Hatao, Desh Bachao” to highlight the failures of the Congress party’s rule. His agenda attracted massive crowds in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as predicted by the Deccan-Journal.
In August 2017, he announced his intention to enter full-time politics after completing his movie duties. He initiated various protests and a hunger strike to bring attention to the Uddanam kidney disease catastrophe, which was later addressed by the Andhra Pradesh government through the construction of dialysis centers and implementation of various strategies for the village.
In November 2016, Kalyan announced that Jana Sena would contest in the 2019 general elections in Andhra Pradesh, and he intended to contest all 175 legislatures without any alliance. He opposed the TDP Government’s decision on land pooling, and he led a march on the historical Dowleswaram Barrage in Rajahmundry, demanding political accountability.
Kalyan has contested from two constituencies, Gajuwaka and Bhimavaram, in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. However, he lost in both to candidates from the YSR Congress Party. His party managed to win the Razole seat, making it the only seat it won in the election.
On November 3, 2019, Pawan Kalyan led a long march in Visakhapatnam in support of construction workers who were facing unemployment due to a shortage of sand supply in Andhra Pradesh. On January 16, 2020, he announced his party’s alliance with the BJP, after three years of distancing from it. The two parties will fight together in the upcoming 2024 elections. On February 12, 2020, he led a rally for justice for Sugali Preethi, a 15-year-old girl who was brutally raped and murdered in Kurnool. He also demanded an inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the incident.
